There's a particular kind of restaurant that resists being photographed the conventional way, the kind where the food is only part of the story, and the setting does just as much work as the kitchen. De'Topaz Cafe, nestled inside the grounds of Kahayana Suites in the quiet Ubud village of Lodtunduh, is exactly that kind of place. It's a garden restaurant in the most literal sense: not a dining room with a few plants near the entrance, but a space where the garden is the room.

Tables sit beneath a living canopy of tropical foliage, open to the sky, open to the breeze, the boundary between architecture and nature dissolved so completely that you stop trying to locate it.
